They dramatically surrendered before Additional Deputy Commissioner, Namsai in the presence of Deputy Commissioner; Superintendent of Police, Tezu and 12th Assam Regiment Officers. The misguided trio from Wingsing Village of Nongtaw area under Piyong circle in Namsai Sub – Division joined UPDF in 2011. The surrender was the outcome of tremendous pressure and rigorous pursuance through various sources by police, army, SIT and administration.

The formation of UPDF in 2011 was speculated to be to wage an arms struggle against the government for creation of Manabum district comprising of 9 administrative circles of Chongkham, Namsai, Mahadevpur, Piyong, Wakro, Diyun, Bordumsa and Vijaynagar. Initially there were public sympathy but gradually consecutive incidents of kidnapping and extortion turned the sympathy into hatred.
Those who appreciated the vision of UPDF Chief Sumana Munglang initially changed their stand within no time as the outfit hatched no reason for appreciation and public support. After arrest, Sumana Munglang disclosed that 10 members of his outfit are still operating. The UPDF chief falling to police net is indeed a significant achievement but unless the remaining members are nabbed the cases of kidnapping and extortion might continue. APB&OCWW Board chairman distributes relief materials to flood affected families at Kimi
ITANAGAR, Oct 2: Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) extended its relief materials to flood victims of Kimi village, West Kameng district yesterday.
The relief materials were distributed by APB&OCWWB Chairman Jalley Sonam along with officials of NEEPCO and Patel Engineering Ltd, Kimi and the programme was attended by All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union and INTUC West Kameng District Units.
Two Chinese blankets, 20 Kilograms of rice and Dal and some cash amount for purchasing of utensils were given to all the flood effected families who had registered their names in APB&OCWWB.
On the occasion, Sonam briefed the gathering about Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and highlighted about various labour benefits provided from the board.
While responding to some queries of workers and advised all the labourers of Kameng Hydro Electric Project, Kimi, Sonam informed that APB&OCWWB is working for the welfare of all the workers of various state and central government establishments and private sectors. Any worker working under any discipline can register their name with this board to avail all the benefits provided by it.
He expressed his gratitude to NEEPCO officials of Kimi and Bichom for their support and cooperation to the board.
Meanwhile, Patel engineering Ltd officials and AAPWU members appreciated Sonam for providing relief materials from the Board to its registered workers. They said, the recent flood has completely destroyed many dwelling houses and also partially damaged boundary walls of the project complex and dwelling houses of labourer and workers of Hydro electric project.

Consumers may face temporary LPG crisis
ITANAGAR, Oct 20: Yet again a fresh problem has cropped up in transportation of LPG as the transporters have observed bandh from 21st September to 1st October demanding hike in transportation charge which affects the movement of trucks from Guwahati to Arunachal Pradesh.
Moreover, on 1st October the all India LPG distributors downed their shutter to protest the new LPG policy of Govt. of India. Therefore, the department of Food and Civil Supplies along with Capital Complex and Papum Pare district administrations have appealed the consumers to bear with them. Lakshmi wins Gold in NE Taekwondo & Poomse C’ship

North East Zone Taekwondo and Poomsae Championship held in Shillong, Meghalaya from

Lakshmi bagged the yellow metal under 55 kg in Junior category. Arunachal Pradesh also won a Silver and five Bronze medals in the championship.

BRTF personnel rescue 3 trapped persons from Eze river

ROING, Oct 02: The Border Road Task Force (BRTF) personnel in a daring rescue operation today saved a young mother Dolma Lama, her daughter Sony Tamang, and son Mustu Tamang, who were trapped for almost four hours in the middle of rising flood water of Eze river.
“At around 2.30 pm, I was informed by a resident of Kebali village that three people
were trapped in the middle of the Eze river,” said Rakesh Tacho, i/c Sub-
Thereafter, the district administration was immediately alerted about the incident, and the fire brigade and BRTF personnel were put into action, Tacho informed.
By 3 in the evening a huge crowd gathered on the banks of Eze. The incident recalled back the horror of August 2004 when four people who had went for fishing in Eze river was swept away by flood water in front of hundred eyes, after they were trapped in the middle of river water for hours, in similar situation.
“I had come to inspect the river at around 2 pm,” said Kebi Pulu, a resident of Kebali village, who visits Roing everyday from his village. “Just today morning, I had crossed the river on a temporary bamboo bridge. But came back in the afternoon to find that the bridge had been swept by swelling water.”
And then when he saw the three tiny souls trapped from two sides by the rising river water. He then immediately contacted the local administrative officials for help.
According to the victims’ relatives, the victim who lived on the other side of the river bank had come to the town in the morning for shopping after having crossed the river on a bamboo bridge. While on return, finding the bridge damaged, they turned back, only to find themselves trapped by the river water that had risen within few minutes.
For three hours, the crowd stood helpless watching the three people stranded in the middle of the river. The river got denser, murkier and turbulent with each passing minutes.
Two days of torrential rain had raised the water level again forcing the river to change its course. Relatives of the victims were in tears trying to contact the victim through mobile phone, which they received as switched off. Meanwhile, fire brigade personnel were seen making helpless efforts to rescue the trapped victims. With their life saving equipments they were running back and forth trying to find a secure spot for carrying out rescue operation.
At around 4.30 pm, Thomas Basumatary, BRTF JCB operator swung into action by crossing himself to the other end of the river with the help of a steel rope way tied up by the BRTF for foot suspension bridge. The crowd gasped their breadth watching Basumatary walking over a thin steel rope balancing with two other ropes.

ROING, Oct 02: Rajya Sabha Member Mukut Mithi exhorted the various executing agencies to maintain the quality of work and complete in on time for the benefit of the needy people.

Expressing happiness over the implementation of the MP LAD fund in the district, he exhorted the executing agencies to maintain the quality of works and submit utilzation certificates (UCs) of all the completed schemes immediately to get second installment released by the central Govt. He further instructed the District Planning Officer to properly monitor the quality and progress of works periodically keeping coordination with the executing agencies.

Siram calls for concerted efforts to make Pasighat a crime-
PASIGHAT, Oct 02: Local MLA and Education Minister Bosiram Siram today called for
concerted efforts by the police, administration, civil society and the traders to
make Pasighat a crime-
The minister while appreciating the people of Pasighat for maintaining the age-
Siram informed that additional IRBn personnel would be provided to strengthen the police force. He directed district authority to check encroachment at Pane Korong area so that water sources of the area could be used for larger public interests. Clean Arunachal campaign & workshop on tourism
ITANAGAR, Oct 2: In commemoration of the world Tourism Day, Upper Subansiri district administration in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators Association (APTOA) recently conducted a mass cleanliness campaign as a part of ‘Clean Arunachal Campaign’ under Department of Tourism at Daporijo and Raga town.
D. Raji District Tourism Officer along with John Panye President (APTOA) led the cleanliness campaign at Daporijo which was organized on 27th of last month. The Superintendent of Police S. Addressing a huge gathering of about 1000 participants, the Minister for Finance, Planning & PWD Chowna Mein, gave a clarion call for a paradigm shift in the mindset of people to inculcate the sense of cleanliness, environment sanitation and personal hygiene in all works of life. He stressed that a sanitary toilet in home, Anganwadi and School is a must. Earlier the Executive Engineer cum Member Secretary, DWSC Er. Tayum Tok unveiled that Total Sanitation Campaign is now rechristened as Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan and is an extension of Total Sanitation Campaign programme, with inclusion of core activities to be implemented vigorously in rural areas. It would mainly focus on building and use of toilets, safe disposal of child faeces, hand washing with soap after defecation, before food and after handing child faeces and safe storage and handling of drinking water.
He said that message of personal hygiene, good sanitary practices and clean environment should be carried to nook and corners of the district through the children so that the Bharat Nirmal Abhiyan, the flagship programme by Government of India reaches every rural households of the district

AAPSU federal assembly approves its constitutional amendments
ITANAGAR, Oct 2: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has extend its thankfulness to all its federal unit member who have participated in the just concluded AAPSU federal Assembly and for passing some historic amendments which will go a long way in shaping the destiny of AAPSU in the right perspective.
The assembly held under the watchful eye of Federal Speaker Chera Tamak took some important decision. Seven major amendments have been adopted by the just concluded assembly namely, age bar, education qualification, delegates composition, post sharing etc which shall bring about major overhaul for the apex students body of the state in giving a more inclusive and vibrant AAPSU.
Further AAPSU terms the resentment of the RGUSU and RGURSF regarding the debates on money involvement in union election as unfortunate. The internal discussion of the federal assembly on the said subject is not targeted to any institute or individual person rather it was a generalize discussion that is plaguing the union and we have to be bold in accepting truth.
“The clarification has been already given and there is nothing more to say on the subject rather the PG students leaders who are confronting on the issue and have brought out the issue in public domain by publishing it in local dailies are advise to ponder about the seriousness of the subject and not try to defame the union on a subject for the general good and for achieving a strong AAPSU,” the AAPSU stated.
The union also seek explanation from the leaders of resenting union within a week time that on what ground they have taken the subject so seriously when every right thinking student of the state are strongly voicing for minimizing the flow of money culture, lest the apex students body will construed their intention as motivated.

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: A public meeting was organized at Pasighat Solung ground yesterday regarding electricity problems at Pasighat under the chairmanship of retired Chief Engineer, Power Ogam Apum.
After having a discussion threadbare on public grievances the house unanimously resolved that the Minister Power and the Parliamentary Secretary (Hydro power) should resign from their respective post on moral ground within a period of seven days as they have failed to mitigate the electricity problem despite their written assurance.

They also interacted with the Bugun community and chairman of the Bugun Welfare Society Indi Glow and showed keen interest to know about the eco tourism being run by Bugun Welfare Society and promised to reflect the idea in their respective states. The officers were quite impressed to learn that Bugun community have committed themselves to the conservation of Eaglenest Sanctuary.
The officers also had the opportunity to interact with Dr. Ramana Athreya, who is an Astronomer and Ecologist from the Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research Pune and is a regular visitor to Eaglenest. In 2006, he described a new species of bird, the Bugun Liocichla from the Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary.
This discovery was described by scientists as a most sensational ornithological discovery in the last 50 years. The officers were extremely delighted to familiarize themselves with the culture of Arunachal by directly interacting with the villagers and participating in traditional dances.

Medical Health Camp at Mebo circle
ITANAGAR, Oct 02: A medical team led by Dr. O Borang, medical officer of Namsing Public Health Centre (PHC) conducted a medical camp at Namsing area on September 28 last.
Over 500 patients suffering from various ailments/diseases, like conjunctivitis, diarrhoea, fever etc were treated in the medical camps conducted in Mer, Gadum, Tengabari and Sogun villages. Required medicines were also provided to the patients free of cost. RUKSIN, Oct 02: Another spell of heavy rains over the last three days disrupted normal life at Ruksin, Pasighat areas and parts of Assam. The uncertainty in weather condition has yet again baffled the common man.
The flash flood triggered by heavy rains for the last fortnight has caused widespread destruction to roads, bridges, standing crops, irrigation systems in the area. The rain has started raining on September 30 after a week of dry spell and rains still falling from gloomy sky.
Reports from Indian Meteorology department said that the continuous rainfall has occurred due to depression in the Bay of Bengal. The Southwest Monsoon picking up more moisture from the Bay of Bengal, which was heading towards NE region during early July last, remains active in the region including Arunachal Pradesh and Upper parts of Assam.
ARPA pleads for a drug information cell in state
ITANAGAR, Oct 02: The Arunachal Registered Pharmacist Association (ARPA) has urged the drug control department to open a Drug Information Cell (DIC) like other states to pass information about various new drugs that are coming to the market.
ARPA in its second general body meeting also discussed on creation of online “Redressal Cell” where anybody can have his/her grievances heard by writing complain online or in paper, particularly about abuse of certain drugs.

A report from a project undertaken by the United Nations Population Fund Agency said that India has around 90 million elderly people at present and the number is expected to increase to 315 million constituting 20 per cent of the total population by 2050. There will be more women than men in India’s population of those over 60 years of age by 2050.
Beyond implications of demographic transition across social, economic and spatial groups, the forecast is bound to throw up challenges to society create several societal issues. It has also provided fresh grist to advocates for the elderly, who have always stressed on the need to create cohesive environment and decent living for the elderly, particularly elderly women in the country.

Aalo town is known as land of football fans and football tournament held in Aalo is like a big festival. But this year it seem that committee in Aalo DSA are not mature enough to organize a good football tournament. They did not take proper decision due to which some unnecessary law and order situation took place. The thing is that during the opening ceremony of late JB Memorial football tournament on 20th September, the whole participating team was given the terms of rules and regulations of the game by DSA in which it was written that its rules and regulations will be same as FIFA rule. And action will be taken for breaking the rules and regulation. But on 29th September, match between Yomcha ADC and Kabu Football Club were played in spirit against the football. Can you imagine during match in last twelve minutes, Kabu team scored 8 goals against Yomcha, and Yomcha ADC players were in fact enjoying the goals? Just to make Darka football club out of the tournament. At the 1st 45 minutes, both the team played very good match, but after the 2nd half, game changed like a match fixed! The situation was that, if Kabu failed to score 6 goals against Yomcha ADC, the Darka would get qualified to next level of the tournament and Yomcha ADC would be already out of tournament. But after the 2nd half, it seems that everything was against Darka FC and the game looked like a match fixed. Such type of game has never been played in DSA tournament till now. And the DSA committee failed to take action against both teams for playing such inspirited game. Even the spectators were surprised to see such game which had destroyed the standard of DSA tournament, Aalo. After the 2 days of the match, the committee finally gave the decision which was injustice to the Darka FC. As per as their decision, Darka FC was expelled for 2 terms from the DSA tournament and each players was expelled for 1 year just because for asking justice. The committee did not take any action against both Kabu and Yomcha ADC. The decision is against the spirit of sports.

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to put few question to Banderdewa Circle Intellectual Forum (BCIF). Your Bandh calls are not appropriate in view of the common citizen of the capital areas. Your Circle is different from the capital areas and therefore you should go for Bandh call only in Banderdewa circle. Your bandh call is only for benefit of Banderdewa circle. Please don’t go for bandh call at this time when state is witnessing flood/landslide in various districts of Arunachal Pradesh. The bandh call will hamper people going for medical problem, affect movement of commodity items in the State. It will also affect study of students of school, college, university and business community. This time we need to help people of other districts who are struggling because of inclement weather and you intellectual youth of state should take lead.

Unemployment problem and Arunachal
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed Daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concern authorities towards unemployment problem in the state.
As per the data collected from the employment exchange office, more than 30,000 educated youths have registered their names as unemployed in the state. However, number of unemployed will increase, if we include the educated unemployed youths from the rural area of the state, who did not register their name in employment exchange.
Unemployment is a serious problem in our state. Lack of industries, vocational/skill
development training institutes, proper transportation and communication problem
and absence of Govt policy are some of the reasons which lead to growing number
unemployed youths. Now due to absence of job opportunities, unemployed youths are
involving in unwanted activities which subsequently creates law and order problem
for the society. We can not blame the Govt alone for lack of employment opportunities
in Govt sectors, but the Govt must take up steps to help the unemployment youths
launch self-
If the unemployment problems is not tackled, the unemployed youths will go for negative activities and the state will face serious problem in future.
